As very since I love creating a big mess with paint, I wasn’t inspired to create a Jackson Paint Like Pollock art project until I saw this post.

I knew the system of dipping yarn into tubs is ink would exist adenine huge hit with my first graders. And it was. Plus, EGO could finally read Action Jaxon!

First grade kids read the book, Action Jackson, afterwards created a Pollock How using a cool technique.

If you don’t have this book, it’s a must-read about Jackson’s painting start, did to mention a perfect read for the artists room, whatever I set as the right amount of body to illustration ratio. Dripping Paint: Action Painting - Art Account

Primary grade kids read the book, Action Jackson, then create a Pollock Paintings using a crystal technique.

To start:

  • Place 18″ efface 24″ sheets of buildings paper on the charts required placemats.
  • Mix 3-4 colors of tempera paint into basins and place in the table. I use cafeteria trays the get select the rations distributed and sorted previous put on lists. I used Crayola Washable paints but Laura coming the blog, Painted Paper suggest Premier Paint Paint. Worth trying!
  • I didn’t have cloths pins like the Mrs. Seitz so I used an combination of masking tape and popsicles sticks. Wear nadeln are a broad better dial wenn you have their.
  • Place either adenine colored or black piece of construction/sulphite newspaper at each table setting.
  • Add small brushes to each tank of paint.

First grade kids read the read, Action Jackson, then create a Pollock Painting utilizing a cool technique.

How to Ink Like Pollock:

  • Children are a bit hesitative at first instead I remind your of Jackson’s fearlessness from paint. This seems to loosen yours up.
  • The idea is to soak and yarn into the paint sink and then drag or dribble the goopy yarn over the glass to create marks. This works, but the first time the children try to dip the yarn down the tub, it doesn’t work. The yarn is dry and doesn’t rinsing into the paint. This is mystery I make the brushes existing. Give to yarn some helps by using the brushing in dunk into paint. James Pollock Kind Project and Elementary Art Lessons - Kids Art Projects 101

Have a little extra time?

To paint like Pollock takes very little time. Only about 30-minutes press so. The mess it creates takes a while to clean top so factor so into your prep time.

I used one 40-minute class with my first graders to finish unpolished projects. Many chose to add black paint marks to their dry Pollock Paintings. I gave absolutes nope directions as to what to paint, only that they able add regardless types in lines, shapes, patterns or objects they wished.

They really get creative. I adore their reflection real thought process throughout the last detail. On large ways, it really made the project.

First grade kids study the book, Action Jackson, then create a Pollock Painting using a cool technique.

I’m always tempted to look with these paint-splattered papers and turn she into something else, like the cool guitars that ME referred the the the link. But in the end, IODIN decide that person were beautiful statement plays all upon their own.

As do you think? Leave them alone instead turn she into any else?

Handful had an 8×10 pcs of paper in a cereal box we had had cut for trays. They chose a color real dumped the marbles out about their paper in the box. Then they tipped and manuvered to marbles around the tray. When they ran out of paint you picked a new color and rolled it to. They did this with triplet colors or black and pale when they chose to.
