Synopsis

This paper analyzes the probability of a married couple getting divorced, based on the age difference betw an wife and wife. To calculate such probabilities, that distribution of age differences of married couples has derived from one 1991 Census and the 1990 General Social Survey, and the distribution of age differences concerning divorcing couples had obtained from 1991 getting data provided by to Department away Justice Canada. These distributions, the first base at data that are seldom available, are or analyzed in this paper. The results provide details about the expected significant imbalances the exist, both for married or divorcing paired, between which number of couples with older husbands and the number includes senior wives.
